Hello and welcome to the 140th edition of the Screenshot of the Week!

To start with, congratulations to the winner of the previous contest! Alex's screenshot from won with 10 upvotes!

Last week's winning screenshot one

To submit a screenshot, simply post it as an answer to this question, but please take note of the following:

  • One screenshot per post, and one post per person, please!
  • Limited picture modifications are allowed, such as cropping, simple filters, and blurring of identifying info such as names, but not adding other images or text.
  • To ensure a fair playing field, please post screenshots you've taken yourself rather than ones you found online.
  • Stack Exchange’s Code of Conduct still applies - so if it would be unacceptable to post normally, it’s unacceptable here.

Also, try to avoid pictures that include spoilers. We want everyone to be able to enjoy this contest, so the less spoilers the better.

How long will the contest run?

We will accept submissions for a week, until April 28, 2025, then have a week-long period where only voting will be accepted. This is to give every submission, even those posted at the end of the first week, a chance to be voted on by everyone.

After the end of the second week, at May 5, 2025, we will count upvotes only to determine the winning screenshot, which will be featured for a week on the main site's photo widget.

What is everyone's take on taking a screenshot of a game you made? You would probably want a link to it, of course. The reason I ask is because I've been making a few games of my own, and they are coming out great. When I release them out to the public, would making a screenshot (maybe a few months later) count for the contest?

@Alex You'd probably be able to submit screenshots of your own games. Hope development goes well!

@Alex I like how it doesn't matter what distance there is between you and the block you want to remove. Such a breath of fresh air compared to Minecraft :)

@Joachim Yeah I like that too. It was previously a bug, but now I'm thinking about maybe making my version of "Creative Mode" should use this bug and remove that limitation. THAT would really improve the creative game play. :D

@Alex A bit of feedback - the player feels pretty slow. Also, some sort of crosshair at the centre of the screen would be helpful for sure. Some kind of shift-to-sprint would be nice too. Also being able to hold down to continually destroy/place blocks (maybe after a short delay).

@Otaku Thanks for the feedback! I fix those on what'll be the next update. I also added a flying mode, better terrain, and faster chunk loading.??

At first, I thought it was a bear and a crocodile fighting on 2 feet, Godzilla style.

@Clockwork I'm just as shocked as you are. This can't be my second win, can it? (Hopes are high, but not too high). A tie with Wondercricket would be cool to see! :D

Apparently, snails can't talk.

A screenshot from the aforementioned game. Lind, the main character, is commenting that what we see is a snail, and they cannot talk.

The game is currently under development. This screenshot came from a demo for a closed early pre-alpha version.

The game says it's a snail, my brain says butterfly. Is it actually a snail?
    – Alex
    Commented Apr 22 at 15:54

@Alex Yeah, the snail is that tiny pink creature you see at his feet. The one on the left is a moth, and he's called... [lemme check my previous screenshot submission lil quick] Nil. I still haven't posted a screenshot of Nil talking but seeing that I already posted two screenshots in a row of this game, I'm going to move on to something else next.

I missed the snail on the ground. The butterfly is easier to see than the snail.

  • Quick! Kick her into that green thing. A gamer's first instinct would be that what ever goes in it, teleports.

IIRC you are on the other side of a chasm from her at the time, so you can't. And Pirate101 is a turn-based strategy game, so the very design of the game doesn't allow sudden moves. And also why would we want to push her away? The entire goal of the previous two chapters of the game is essentially to find here.

Later on in this scene one member of your crew does propose shooting her (the typical gamer instinct), and her response is "Kill me and the spirits of the Pirate's mother and father will be lost forever, consigned to eternal torment". I doubt that and think she's bluffing given that earlier in the game we literally befriended Death itself, but the game ends at this point so we don't know.
